Fit Betty & The Fit Cookie

Hey, my name is Sarah Jane! I am a blogger, an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and a Zumba instructor, recovering sugar-addict,…but as a wife and mom, I have a lot of other jobs: chauffer, accountant, house keeper, nurse, cook,… Too bad that stuff doesn’t make it on a resume!

I started Fit Betty and The Fit Cookie to share my passion for fitness, nutrition, and healthy, allergy-friendly food.  My vision for Fit Betty and The Fit Cookie is to encourage and motivate people toward their personal goals while having FUN! Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be a complicated and burdensome process, but it should be something that everyone can love and enjoy.

My venture into food and fitness blogging started out as a personal expedition, but soon became a way for me to reach out to other people and lend a helping hand in their journey as well.  We can all use a little encouragement, and I hope people can get a good dose of motivation when they spend time with me or read my blogs.

It is amazing how much I have learned over the last couple years! I have always struggled with self-doubt and insecurity, but through my work in fitness and blogging, I found my voice and use it to help people.

Here are a few things that have helped me in my blogging and fitness journey:

  1. Face and conquer your fears. Ignore that “doubting Thomas” voice inside and be your best you no matter what! Welcome challenges and difficulties: we never know what we are made of until our skills are put to the test.
  2. Kick perfection to the curb and listen to Nike: Just Do It (and keep doing it)!  Sometimes my perfectionism looks like procrastination: if things aren’t perfect, sometimes they don’t get done. But if you wait for things to be perfect, nothing can ever be accomplished.  Find that line between dedication and perfectionism, and be dedicated.
  3. An exceptional life is found outside your comfort zone.  The big question is: are we willing to take the risk? Whether it has to do with something as small participating in an obstacle race or something big like a career change, many of the best things in life are discovered while venturing outside your comfort zone.  Oftentimes this takes practice (at least for me!) starting with small things first. Practice makes perfect improvement!
  4. The learning experience continues! Life is learning and growing. Always be ready to learn more each day : )
