The Fitblogger Challenge

Fitblogger Challenge Badge

Welcome to our first monthly challenge!

To start, the challenges are not a competition with others, but with ourselves, to strive for something we maybe didn’t think we could do, and challenge our own definition of ourselves.

Drastic change isn’t done overnight (or it likely won’t be drastic very long) it’s a million tiny changes, a million baby steps that result in a completely different life, over time. The goal of the challenges is to help you make those small changes. Each month, a change that builds on the last, builds on your success.

The challenge can take whatever form of goal you’d like fitness, nutritional, it’s entirely up to you and what your personal goals are (with one exception, see below.)

How it Works

1. Pledge your participation in the comments below.

2. Write a post on your blog, this week, detailing your goals, where you are starting, what improvement you hope to make, etc.  Using those goal setting techniques will be very helpful here. (If you don’t have a blog, their are tons of free options, WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, and if you want a self hosted WordPress blog, Fitblogger does that too. What we’re saying is there are no excuses!)

  • You can pledge minutes, miles, consistency (like 5 days a week).
  • For this challenge, no weight related goals please. That might be a bonus for a more active lifestyle but we’re focusing on health. You might want to work in a nutrition goal, like drink 8 glasses of water a day, eat 5 fruits and veggies, etc.
  • Try to use SMART goal setting. If you want to review goal setting, or mission statements, check out our recent the articles about those very topics.

3. Once you’ve completed your introductory post, please link it below in the link tool included at the end of the post.

4. Each Monday, we will publish a new Challenge post here, week 2, week 3, etc. All  you need to do is write one post per week with a goal update and link it to that weekly post.

5. The links will enable everyone to see who is participating and cheer each other on. You do not have to achieve all you goals, you simply have to be actively working on them and posting about it!

That’s all there is to it. Make goals, work towards them and let everyone know how you’re doing by linking up here. And of course here’s the badge code or you can copy paste the image too if you prefer, just link it back to http://fitblogger.ca/challenge/

I have not done well on past challenges so, as tempted as I am, will sit this one out. But I LOVE that you suggest not weight related goals!!!

Thanks Karen! I firmly believe it makes it easier to not look at a weight goal, but a habit goal. The way I look at it, if you have weight goals monthly, then reach your goal, you stop making goals. The new habits that got you there weren’t the focus. That’s a sure fireway to go right back in my books!

I’m really excited about this challenge because it’s coming at a perfect time for me! I’m ready to focus on small worthwhile goals instead of getting overwhelmed by the BIG picture!

Though I AM trying to lose weight… I need a break from focusing on it. My biggest challenge lately has been getting in enough water. That is going to be my challenge. I want to get 64 oz of water a day.

  6. I’m going to participate! My blog post will go live in the morning so I’ll come back and add to the linky button. Looking forward to it!

I’m going to consider this one! I’m also planning on joining another challenge which works pretty much the same way. I’m just trying to decide if I can handle both of them AND my March Check-In on Facebook! lol

This is going to be awesome! I had been wanting to start something (read my post to see what), so this came at just the right time. So happy to be part of it!

By the way, the code for the image is breaking in WP for some reason. It’s changing the last ” to a ? on the size of the image and breaking it. I couldn’t find a way to fix it so it stayed right either. So, for WP users, you are probably going to have to pull the image off of this site and upload it yourself. Just FYI! :)

I am running a 1000 miles in a year. I start on April 1st. I need the challenge of maintaining the fitness habit. Usually as the weather warms i get active, as it gets cold, I lose interest. This is a push…hope the shove is hard enough. Check me out. I may need motivation.
