I’m Home – I’ve Lost 113 Pounds and 55 inches

It has been an exhausting, long and difficult journey but I’m HOME.  I have officially lost 113 pounds and 55 inches of my body. I have reached my ultimate goal - “HEALTH”.I just recently celebrated my birthday, and I have given myself the best present ever – “Health”.  I’m about to say something that I never phantom I would ever say: “I weigh a healthy 125 pounds, muscles and all”.

It is by unanimous decision from both of my doctors, my nutritionist, my trainer, my husband, my entire supportive family and ME that I am exactly where I have to be.

I have reached my goal, I have reached my limits.  Please know that throughout this journey I have been monitored and guided by both of my doctors as well as other qualified people.  I am stronger, healthier and happier than I have ever been.

Reactions

It is to my amazement that I have encountered both sides of the spectrum on this journey.  Many have expressed how healthy, and good I look while others have expressed how anorexic, sick and awful I look.  I understand both sides.  I believe that the negative comments come from the fact that these people are not use to seeing me this way. I look totally different, I look like another person. My husband said something funny the other day.  He said, I feel like I have married two different women without getting divorced. Ha Ha — So he wishes.

I don’t take the negative comments personal because I understand them.  I sometimes have the same problem, at times I don’t recognize myself.   Even though I lost the weight very gradually, it is shocking to those who have not seen me in awhile.  But it’s ME, A healthy ME, and I’m here to stay.

How did you lose over 100 pounds?

This is the first question everyone ask. My answer to that is:  OMG! It was hard work. Many people think I had some kind of surgery, but I can honestly say I didn’t.  It took me approximately one year to lose 101 pounds, and an additional two months to lose 12 more.  I was determined to get healthy and I focused on that.  I learned plenty throughout this journey and I’m still learning, but I didn’t do it alone.  I used some tools to help me get to where I envisioned myself to be.

What’s ahead for you?

So you might think my journey is over since I reached my goal but that is not so.  I feel unstoppable.  I will continue my workouts, not only because it’s necessary to exercise, but  because I have falling in love with it (I can’t believe I’m saying that). Living healthy does not have an end. There is so much I want to do but for now–  I’m training to run my first 5K in October 2012 and my ultimate goal is to run a half  marathon next year.  I also want to help and inspire people that are struggling with their weight and health.  I want them to know that they are not alone and that it can be done.  I’m living proof!!

  3. WAY TO GO! You look wonderful and happy!

It took me just under 2 years to lose 110 pounds. The first 75 was pretty easy (lost 50 in 10 months, then another 25 or so in a few more) but then I plateaued. I lost more and then it REALLY slowed down. Like you, it seemed to take forever to lose those last 10 pounds or so. But I kept at it. And I’ve kept the weight off for 4 years so far!

    • Woww!!! Kudos to you Lisa!!! 4 years keeping it off is FANTASTIC!!!! I’m adjusting right now. I have to eat a little more to maintain my weight and stop losing any more since I work out a lot. Sometimes I can wrap my head around that, but it is part of the process. My journey continues. I have a new lifestyle and I love it. Thank you for sharing your story. It motivates me. xoxo Patti
