Making A Run For It

I would have say, above all else, I kind of see running as a familiar friend.

At this point in my life, I’ve been relocated to the Baltimore area for about 5 months. It’s been an adjustment from my last two locations (Chicago, IL and Fort Collins, CO) but I’m surviving. It may sound strange, but currently running is one of my closest friends that I have out here.

However, let me backtrack for you guys really quick. Essentially, I’m a ‘retired’ division I volleyball player who has developed a deep passion for distance running and health/fitness over the past two years. In May of 2011 I ran my first marathon, The Colorado Marathon, and unexpectedly qualified for the Boston Marathon in doing so.

So, naturally I ran in the Boston Marathon on April 16, 2012. It was epic, and if you’re interested I wrote my favorite post/race recap to date on the experience; check it out.

As of this week I am now training to run in my first fall race, the ING New York Marathon in November. I’m super excited about it and hope to run my best 26.2 yet.

So there’s the scoop on my running life.  I feel very similar about my blog as I do about running; both of them provide intimate, enjoyable time for myself. Typically I write what I want to say to you guys in my head out on the trails.

Sorry, did I say trails? Not many of those out here in the Baltimore area…  it’s more like bike paths and streets. Oh Colorado how I miss you.

I try to be real and honest with what I write at all times. People have crappy days, and I’m no exception. I try to find humor in it, and hope that some of my stumbles and mistakes can bring a smile to others faces. I share a lot about my adjustment to East Coast living, running/fitness, and the occasional recipes as well.

Other passions of mine include country music, food of all sorts, my Honda Civic, sports and dogs. Stop by, say hi, tell me about your own blog or give me some feedback!
