Road Runner Girl

Do you like to run? Well I do! But it wasn’t always that way. I’ve always wanted to be a runner but every time I would attempt to run I would start too fast, end up being miserable, and vow I was never running again. Sound familiar? I repeated this same cycle over and over throughout high school and college. I was pretty active in the gym during this time but had never found that one thing that I loved to do. After college I got married and a few years later had my two boys. I had quit going to the gym and had all this extra weight on me from my pregnancies. One day I decided I was tired of being miserable and unhealthy. So I decided to try running again.

Someone had told me about the Couch to 5K program and that’s how I began. Only this time…I stuck to it…and fell in love with running! Now I have run several 5K’s and 10K’s, 11 half marathons, and 1 full marathon! Never would I have thought I would reach my dream of becoming a runner!

I started my blog Road Runner Girl as a way to document my journey to becoming a runner. I started it from that very first run of the Couch to 5K program. In the beginning it was just a journal for me…but now it has grown into so much more! I actually have people who read what I write! I write about the challenges of running and the successes! I write about circumstances every runner encounters like needing new shoes, injuries, and running in certain weather conditions. I write about my favorite products for running. Road Runner Girl is all about inspiring others to get out there and live a healthy and active lifestyle!

When I am not running, I am a wife to a wonderful husband, a mom to two boys, and a substitute teacher hoping to get my own classroom again. I love to read, travel, and scrapbook.

You can connect with me on my blog Road Runner Girl, on Twitter, and on Facebook! I would love to connect with you!

  1. I have heard such amazing things about Couch to 5K and it’s great to read about your success! :-) When I first started running I didn’t use a program, but someone had told me that the key to running my first mile would be to go very slow and then when I thought I was going slow enough to slow down a little more. I have now run three half marathons and am hoping to run a full within the next year or so.

    Way to go!
