Runner Girl in the Kitchen

“Fit is the new Rich” – Lance Armstrong

Hi Friends,

My name is Gauri a.k.a Runner Girl in the Kitchen an amateur runner, a die hard sports fan, and a big foodie.

I would like to thank Fit Blogger for this wonderful opportunity to share my running experiences/ race recaps/ healthy recipes with you all.

A bit about me

I grew up in a household of great cooks, with finger licking food dished out every day by my mother I never ventured into the kitchen, but marriage changed that; as soon as I stepped in my own kitchen I knew this was the place to be!!

Cooking mouthwatering meals day in and out became a regular feature enjoyed by our friends and family, but all this eating made me realize that unless I am fit I cannot continue on this gastronomical journey and live a long healthy life.

My waist line was steadily growing; this ‘muffin top’ was not a welcome addition in my life, clothes stopped fitting me, I hardly wore jeans and I hated shopping. That’s when I decided to RUN, an exercise where I could feel the wind in my hair; breath in the cool fresh air, feel the sun kiss my face! the moment I took my first step out, there was no looking back.

Running now has become a way of life it has set me free, given me the freedom to just be ME.

Why Blogging?

Once I started to run, I knew that was not enough; I had to fuel up smarter and loose those extra pounds for good!

Soon I started experimenting with good carbs, high protein foods; fresh fruits… I wanted to share my recipes with all fellow runners / weight watchers or anyone who wished to follow a balanced life style.

Starting a blog seemed like the perfect solution, its was a medium not only reach out to many like me, but also to get inspired by others successes to help continue on my weight loss journey!.

So this Runner Girl’s blog has simple, nutritious and most important filling recipes, starting from saladsquick n easy soupswrapsto some delicious healthy bakes!

Eating right, being happy with my self and having the support from my truly significant better half I am now slowly but steadily moving towards my target weight and I know I will be there before this year end as I WANT an active, energy filled future!

I hope that you not only visit my blog, but also leave your valuable comments, your suggestions on food – exercise and recipes you have tried and loved or would like the Runner Girl to cook.

I will pen off with one of my favourite quotes which keeps me going from my idol – Dean Karnazes

“Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up.”

You can also find me on FacebookPinterest and Twitter.
