Hi! My name is Carrie and I blog over at shrinkingcarrie.com. Have you ever had a lifelong battle that you are trying to conquer for the last and final time? That is what I blog about over at shrinkingcarrie.com. I have been overweight my entire life. Sure, I have had a few tastes of what thin feels like throughout my life, but never until now have I had the desire to have a fit, HEALTHY body.
My story is not unlike anyone who is overweight. I was a chubby kid and it followed me in to my adult life. When I was 19 I did some extremely unhealthy dieting, and lost 90 pounds. I decided that I wanted to live a healthy, active life and in pursuit of that dream I met my now husband.
When I met my husband was when I truly felt what it was like to be loved, and in turn it helped me to love myself. With my happiness came less gym time, and more going out to eat. It wasn’t long before I had gained back the 90 pounds and then some.
After four years of marriage we decided it was time to start a family. My weight affected our chances of getting pregnant and I was very hard on myself, asking myself “if I really wanted a child I would lose the weight”. I told myself I was selfish for the lack of self-control, and that there was a little soul that was waiting for me if I could just get my eating under control.
Months of trying to get pregnant turned into years and then by some miracle we found out in March of 2010 that we were expecting!
My pregnancy was hard and I was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes. I had to completely change the way I was eating, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. It also made me look at food differently. They told me if I wasn’t careful, I could have Type II Diabetes post pregnancy. I was bound and determined that I would never let it get that far.
I had my beautiful baby girl in October of 2010 and I was determined to lose the weight and get the healthy body that I have wanted for so long.
In June of 2011 I started my blog shrinkingcarrie.com as a way for me to connect with other bloggers, and to hold myself accountable. It is a place of positivity and inspiration! It has kept me motivated, and my readers have been one of the most important pieces to the “get healthy” puzzle!
Since then, I have become an avid gym member and completed numerous challenges. I am currently participating in the PCRM 21-Day Vegan Kick-start program, getting my weight lifting in with The New Rules of Lifting for Women, and getting ready to enter the Gold’s Gym 12 Week Challenge!
Thank you for letting me share my story and I hope that you will stop by and visit my site! I love to make new friends and find people to cheer on!
